$30,000 Sign-on Bonus?

Updated:   Published

Came across a news article in the Atlanta Journal about a hospital in Colorado offering $30,000 sign-on bonuses for new night nurses. Quick article summary:

  • Looking for specialists in cardiology and urology
  • 2-year commitment required
  • Hospital is part of the Centura Health system

I'm brimming with excitement that nursing pay is possibly moving in the right direction, but I'm also curious what the community thinks:

  • Is this sign-on bonus level achievable?
  • Is it a sign of the shortage maybe helping increase pay for nurses? I'm hoping so.
  • Or do I just live in the backwards part of the country that this seems like an astronomical amount of money and maybe it's normal elsewhere LOL
