Sick but don't want to miss clincial

I have had a sore throat, congested chest, running nose and generally not feeling well since Tuesday. I feel a bit better, but I have clincial in the morning. I don't want miss but I don't want to risk getting my patients sick either. But my clincial instructor can be strict too which makes me nervous about calling in sick.

I would suggest contacting your instructor in the morning and seeing what she recommends. My instructors have typically been ok with us coming to clinical with colds as long as we wear a mask. Obviously if you're experiencing a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea then there's no question you should stay home. If you don't feel like you're well enough to be handling and administering medications and performing at your best, then definitely don't go. Patient safety is number one, and you won't be set back for missing one day. Feel better!

Definitely contact your instructor early. I doubt your instructor would want you to come in sick.

Thanks guys, I didn't end up going in. I did leave a message for her, but she never responded on Saturday. Sunday I felt better and went in, but my instructor sent me home and told me to rest up. Luckily the absence didn't count against me.
