I get the..well what does a nurse do there? The patients are not sick, not complicated.. do you have doctor rounds? I.v´s ? Isn´t it boring? Maybe you are not able to handle a real med/surgfloor..GRRRGHH.
My patients are complex, I am a damn good nurse, love my job and do the same thing every other nurse do. Geriatrics are not for evreyone but no need to look down at me! Do you find that you have to defend where you work and what do you tell people, to get rid of the myths about working in this specialty??

It is the same all over when I worked in LTC the med/surg nurses were said to look down on the LTC nurses. Now that I am a med/surg nurses the ICU nurses think we are dumb...just can't win. I found out that you just have to be happy with what you do and not worry about who is looking down on you. When people would say bad things about the places I have worked I always told myself I am there to be a light to these people and to be the best nurse I can be. :redbeathe
You vent away. Geriatrics have given their time in life, now we should give back. How indignant!!! Appearantly anyone harrassing you, doesn't know the fulfillment of working in the geriatric field. hmmphhh on them anyway
