I am a second semester nursing student and I have the opportunity to be a full time nursing student without having to work. My husband got a pay increase that has inabled us to live on just his salery. However,I wonder if I should work for the experience or should I just concentrate on nursing school. Will I be able to get a job after school with hardly any experience? I would like some input on this subject. Thanks.

Hi! I just started nursing school(LPN--but I plan to bridge afterwards) in August...And I am working close to full time hrs. 11-7 as a CNA..If I didn't have to work so much..I wouldn't! Next semester I will have school 4/ days a week and will HAVE to cut back my hrs..this semester is just two days and a lab..but I am still studying/working/studying/working smile.gif At least my nurse manager lets me have off the night before class!

Good luck and whatever your decision Hang in there!

I would highly recommend working while you're in school, as long as it doesn't interfere with your home life and school work. During our hospital clinicals, those of us who were working as student nurses had an advantage over those who didn't work. The experiences you can gain as a student nurse are invaluable. I worked PRN, so I basically set my own schedule. It is possible to work, go to school, and run a household. Just be sure to take time for yourself! Good luck.
