Should I Quit??

Published

Hello,

I have a situation that i am not sure what to do. I have been taking general requirments for the past 4 years at 2 classes at a time. I finally get accepted into the nursing school and nurs 101 i get a 78.6, passing is 79. They would not budge, i failed and now i cant start back until Fall 2008. They said the class is full but i found out my grade in Dec 06 and they were accepting apps untill 2-15-07. What does that mean eveyone who applied since dec 06 through feb 07 were not accepted because they were full. I am just so mad and i applied to another school but my gpa is a little bit too low so i cant go there fall 07, i am so fustrated, maybe i should just quit nursing all together and do something else. I am 31, 2 kids and a sick husband with Rhumatoid Arthritis (so he cant work) so i am trying to better my situation for all us. With such a nursing shortage out there they keep turning away qualified people. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do? Maybe something else than nursing? :angryfire

Did the school warn you that you were in danger of not passing the class? Did they give you a plan while you were in that class to improve your grade? Do you know why you didn't make the grade? If I were you I would look at why you didn't pass and then decide whether you want to continue on in nursing. If you simply did not have the time to study perhaps you should consider another career for now (CNA, lab tech, phlebotomist) that requires minimal training (and thus studying) but will keep you in the medical field so that when you do have the time to study you can return to nursing school. The classes only get harder as you go so if you had that much difficulty with a fundamentals class then you would have even more difficulty passing advanced courses. If it had nothing to do with studying and you just had a vindictive instructor then I would consider appealing the grade, or looking for another school. Good luck whatever you decide.
