Should I pay for the TEAS 6 practice test?

Published

I have started to work through my ATI TEAS VI study guide to prepare for my test that I will be taking in August. I have not yet purchased the online practice tests. My question is this: How do the quiz sections at the end of each subject compare to the online practice tests and real test? If I do well on them, should I even bother with purchasing the practice tests? Those of you that have taken the TEAS 6 already, did you find that the questions in the quiz sections were comparable to the practice/real test questions or were they too easy to offer a really good idea of what to look for on the test?

I have moved your post to the TEAS forum to ensure maximum responses. Good luck!

I have not taken the TEAS yet, but from my friends who have taken it and from what I have found on this site, I believe that the questions in the ATI book were comparable to the actual exam. One of my friends who scored in the 90s advised me to purchase the two practice exams from ATI. The first exam taken prior to studying (helps you to figure out your areas of weakness) and one taken after you've completed studying a couple of days before your actual test date to gauge your improvement. Many people tend to say that they actually score slightly higher on the actual exam than on the practice tests.

As you have already begun studying, I would say do what is best for you. Purchasing them and taking these tests in an environment similar to actual testing conditions will be great practice and help to prevent burnout come the actual test day.

I took my TEAS on June 16th and highly recommend the online practice tests from ATI. On my first attempt at Practice A (before I buckled down and started studying) I got a 67%. After some studying, I took Practice B and got a 74%. On my actual TEAS test, I had a composite score of 79%. While the questions in the book were very helpful, the tests online were formatted very similar to the actual test and it there were the same number of questions in each section like on the real test. This helped calmed my nerves for the timing aspect of it all. The only difference I could note was that the practice tests the questions were one at a time and let you know if your answer was correct after each question and explained why the correct answer was in fact correct. On the actual TEAS, there were five or six questions per page.
