Should I Accept?

I am graduating in a couple weeks as an RN (associates)!!! Im so excited! I am currently precepting in OB and I LOVE it! This is where I want to be, eventually becoming an Womens Health NP or a Certified nurse midwife.

So heres my Dilemma...

My family (parents and siblings live in Boise), while my family (mychildren and husband) live in a very small town (with nothing around) two hours away. I hate where I live! There is nothing to do with my small children (one small playground), no indoor places, and Winter is especially awful because its so bitter cold out. Our family goals is to move to Boise and be close to my family, we love it there.

Boise does not offer specialty units, like OB, to new grads or associates RNs, because they are critical II hospitals. Where I live now, they do. They are currently hiring new grads, and since I am precepting here and they like me, I think I have a really good chance of getting it. Like I said, this is the position I want.

I just got offered a job in BOISE for the rehabilitation unit. It in Boise, but its not my passion.

What do I do? Accept to job, and do it for a coule of years and then start apllying for OB positions. Or deny the job, and take the OB position (which is still not a guarantee I'll even get it), hate where we live, and then hope Boise will take me a couple years from now with OB experience?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

I'd stay where you are now to get the year of experience and then move to Boise.

Good luck and congratulations!

So would I. If you family can bear to live in its current location for another year or so ... get an OB job and get the professional experience you need for the career that you want. Consider it an extension of your schooling (that you get paid for.)

Then move to Boise.
