I start my nursing program in September and I've been having a hard time finding some shoes for clinical. In street shoes I wear a 7.5, but prefer a 7W. First I tried Danskos based on all the great things I read about them. I hated them as soon as I put them on my feet. Too tight around the fattest part of my foot. Then I tried ordering a pair of Nurse Mates off of Zappos. I ordered a 7W, but there is no way those shoes were wide. So now I'm considering a few sytles from Klogs USA or Merrell. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two brands? Or are there any other wide-footed people out there with some other suggestions? New Balance generally fit me well, but I don't like the idea of a sneaker because I'd rather not have to worry about laces and tripping over them.

What about Crocs? I have narrow feet and they look pretty wide on me but OH MY are they comfortable :) I'm not talking about the ones with the holes in them, either - they have the "specialist" design which just slip on and have no holes on the top and no side vents - they are completely enclosed except for the back, but even without the "strap" in the back these things stay on!
Thanks for the suggestion, shrimpchips! But I probably should have mentioned in my original post that Crocs are not allowed by my school.

Well when shopping for nursing school, it sure puts a damper on what you can get. My preceptor had wide feet and bad knees, and she did wear Merrell's most of the time. Have you tried Birkenstocks? They do come in white with a style that's not a clog, it encloses the foot around the back. And they always look wide to me. Warning, like anything that's expensive, if you hate it, you really hate that you spent that kind of money on it. Of course, if you love it, it's worth every penny.
