She'll make a good nurse...

Have you ever heard non-nursing personnel say that? I've heard or overheard it being said about various nurses or students on occasion. I haven't asked exactly what was meant by such a comment, but I am curious about what formula these non-nursing people to measure us up. One of the paramedics who teaches bls at our hospital who has never been a nurse herself claimed to be capable of telling a "good nurse" within five minutes of meeting him or her. Does anybody else find it strange that people who know very little about what we actually do nowadays feel they can somehow know which of us is a good nurse?
