am stuyding nursing leadership. i would like to know the followings in us. any one working staff development or wherever can share mewhat is going on your area.

1. what is their philosophy of staff development?

2. is staff development centralized or decentralized or a combination of both?

3. do the staff development personnel engage in performance appraisal or is that done elsewhere?

4. who conduct performance review?

5. are peer reviews used?

6. do the outcomes of performance appraisal affect salary? why or why not?

I would love any input from all that does Long term care Staff Development. I do alittle of everything., however the preceptor schedule on orientation is overwhelming me. Do any of you have suggestions. I have a orientation schedule down., but it is the preceptor schedule I need some assistance. I would be glad to share the classroom portion with you if you can share your preceptor unit portion. Thanks much.....Yvonne
