Hello, I created this post to see the overall applicant pool applying on Fall 2013 for the academic year 2014-2015. I wanted to open a new thread for those of you who are planning to apply to the BSN prelincensure program to SFSU, to share additional information, support each other, and to see how fierce the competition will be for this upcoming academic year.
For you,
Overall GPA:
Prereq GPA:
TEAS V Score:
Supplemental Criteria:
I haven't finished all of the requirements but when I do I'll update it.
Overall GPA: 3.55
Prereq GPA: 3.44 (still need physio lab and anatomy)
TEAS V Score: N/A (still in progress)
Supplemental Criteria: over 100 hours at SFGH (multi-cultural/health-related work), 3 semesters of Spanish (bilingual), and letter of recommendation (if applicable).
Thank you all and I wish all of you the best of luck, may the odds be ever in your favor!
Congrats to everyone who got in! @meganalexis no you do not need to go to transfer orientation. That is for SF State. Unless you already know the classes you are going to take and Segment III's you shouldn't worry about it. The Nursing program will have 2 orientations - official one from the SON itself which just passed last week and then NSA (Nursing Student Association) will hold "N-prep" right before the semester starts.
Yes! If you still can, do it. I was a CNA prior to nursing school. Get healthcare experience and it'll make the transition to nursing school a lot easier. For the application you can have both paid and non-paid (volunteer/intern) experience however it must be documented (official letterhead). Look at the application for all the details. GL.
I went just because I'm in the nursing program for spring and I wanted an early reg date for my GE classes. I don't really know if there's any point for you to go, since you're starting in fall.
Hey Becky, I'm in the same boat as you. I went to the regular transfer orientation but they had little to no information about the nursing program for next semester. Any idea if we're supposed to go to a second orientation or what? I'm wondering who we should talk to about our upcoming semester.

Yes! Relief! Today I moved off the waitlist at #56.
This forum was helpful in sharing a community to get through the application process. As a note for future applicants to SF State, their application process is holistic. Show them that you have worked on the ground floor in a clinical setting, show them that you care about indigent communities, learn a language, and test well! They are protecting their NCLEX pass rate by selecting for advanced or exemplary test takers on the TEAS.
High fives!
