Seton Hall University (SHU) vs The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) nursing programs

Published

Hi I'm a high school senior who got accepted into both nursing programs for seton hall and Tcnj. I am currently committed to seton hall, but this is subject to change since Tcnj just took me off their wait list and accepted me. Finances are not a problem for either school, but Tcnj will be significantly cheaper. My question is which school will provide me with a better education, experience, higher chance for passing the NCLEX and give me good career opportunities.

Specializes in retired LTC.

I can't directly answer your question, but I believe that kind of info is out there in the WWWebdom for the search.

But I do have a thought. Where would your clinicals occur????

Seton Hall is in West Orange - read Newark right down the road. TCNJ is suburban Trenton. I know Trenton, Ewing Twsp, Mercer County and surroundings. My choice would be Trenton - for dorm life and clinicals.

Seton Hall is a Catholic institution (think private), TCNJ is State. I believe you/your parents will appreciate State tuition. It does have import.

(And totally off the record - TCNJ in earlier life was Trenton State College. I went to TRENTON STATE not TCNJ. So did a gazillion other alumni/alumnae! Long story.)

congratulations on TCNJ. I applied and didn't get in :(. But to echo what amoLucia said, I would pick TCNJ over Seton Hall simply because of the tuition and location.

Hi there,

I apologize as this is an extremely old thread but what did you decide on?

I am also committed to Seton Hall for nursing currently and on the waitlist for TCNJ's nursing program.

Thanks!
