September CPNRE

Greetings and Salutations:

I graduated this Spring from Alogonquin College's Practical Nursing Program and will write my CPNRE September 12, 2012. I am studying the 5e Saunders Silvestri text which provides a synopsis of the important data for each area of study and then quizzes you: More questions on Evolve. I wrote my cumulative exam which is supposed to reflect the difficulty of the real exam, and matched the class average. My question is, will there be many questions on Maternity Nursing? There is an abundance of info in Saunders, but I don't recall that there were lots of questions on the cumulative exam.

Thanks!

Every seasons exam is different.

Mine seemed to be heavy on IV fluids, meds, sites.

Flash to the next season and a friend said it was (to her at least) heavy on psych nursing.

It's a crapshoot of an exam. You just have to refresh everything.

Thanks Fiona. I guess I'll review everything.

If I knew know, what the exam was going to be like, I'd look at my job. What do I do, what do I feel comfortable in my knowledge base. Then really look at the areas that your job doesn't cover.

Back when I wrote the exam, I was working in LTC. Knew my geriatrics and their meds inside out. There wasn't an IV in the building. So I really should have thought to have brushed up on them. Peds always seems to be a favourite for the exam setters as well.
