Self-employed/Independent Nurse

Hello All,

Please tell me that there are independent/self-employed nurses in the Atlanta-metro area! OMG! If you are out there, please reply! I need direction and heck of a lot of direction/guidance to get my independent nurse business off the ground. I am a LPN with plenty of long term adult/geriatric experience. I would like to incorporate peds as well but have been unable to acquire a pt job taking care of babies/kids with psa or anyone else due to my "lack of experience."

Can you help me?

This is an old post. Are there any self employed nurses on the forum? What are nurses doing for health insurance/coverage with pre existing conditions? I'm currently looking into discount health plans. The marketplace/exchange is soo expensive now.

Hi

I am also looking to relocate to ATL area from PA where I am familiar with working solely as an independant contracting nurse/1099 income. I was also wondering of this type of nursing is as common down south as it is up here. I contract with 2-3 agencies that staff LTC and private duty nursing.

To answer the benefits question, I have my own retirement plan through a self funded IRA that I pay into at a maximum allowed amount ($5,500/per annum), for health insurance the market place has been my saving grace. With thic type of working you basically handle your taxes and savings.
