Seeking other experience rn for navy/af

Published

Any experienced nurses recently joined navy or air force? Was it difficult to get in? When do boards meet for navy and air force? I'm an ED nurse, 7 years experience. I want to enter as an officer, but won't complete bsn till jan of next year. Do I get credit for time being a nurse or just time from bsn? What would rank and pay be?

From what I understand the Navy will only count your BSN time. Not sure about the AF. As far as pay it will be based on your rank and is the same for each service. You will also recieve BAS (food) of appox $223/month and BAH (housing) which varies by location, also the same for each service. To find the current pay scale go to DFAS and you will be able to pull on up. When looking at pay remember your health care is free, and you do not pay tax on BAS & BAH. There is no sick time in the military, but with that being said you will recieve your full pay adn not have to use benefit time while you are off work.

Sorry that I can not help with commisioning process but I am already on active duty in the Army.
