Seeking advice on finding new job

Hi guys,

I am a cardiac RN in RIchmond, VA that is about to make a major life change and move to Colorado. I won't be moving until July which leaves me with a small dilemma. I don't know when to start applying for jobs! I have been getting mixed signals on when I should be doing this so I bit the bullet and have applied at two hospitals out there. Should I have done that so early? I haven't heard back from either one yet, but it's only been 1 days for one and about a week for the other. I wanted to talk to just the recruiter first, but they haven't gotten back to me either. I guess what I'm asking is should I have applied already or should I just wait til I get closer to moving? (I would really love to have a job lined up and ready to go) The other question I have is should I maybe go with an agency to help me find a job?

Thanks for any and all help I receive,

It depends on where you want to work as to how soon you should apply. If you think you may be interested in working for some level of government in CO, I would apply now. Some hospitals have just as slow of a hiring process as the government, so you should probably start looking for those opportunities within the next month or so. Since you will be new to CO, if you are able, you may want to consider working for a reputable agency to work as a float or choose a reputable hospital to work as a float in the cardiac area until you get settled in. Just a thought.

You can easily find a nursing job soon. I found mine online by going through a medical posting job site. I recieved a few phone calls by when I applied to dozens of hospitals and nursing homes. I know that allnurses.com probably has a job search on their website. However, the website that I used was another nursing employment website. You can try via online. That is the best way to go these days. I posted the website that I used below. I hope this helps.
