Second Entry Nursing Fall 2022

Published

Hey! I haven't seen a post for second entry applicants for Fall 2022. What has everyone applied for? I applied to:

1) UofT

2) Western

3) Nippising SPP

4) Trent

5) Brock - 4 year

Is anyone else applying to Queen's? For the supplementary essay I only just noticed that we need a verifier from our school.. is this only for high school students going into undergrad or is it required for us as well?

Yeah undergrad needs it. One of my friends spoke to admissions and they said you can use a teacher, TA, manager, supervisor, basically anyone other than a friend or family member.

For UofT, section on "Leadership and Community Involvement (Required)"

Was there an official way to do it? Or just CV/Resume style?

I was thinking the same. Can anyone suggest what they did? Wasn't sure whether to do sentences or point form.

I did sentences. Just a brief blurb about what the activities were. I just chose 3 I thought were relevant. Came out to about 500 words. I've seen from previous forums people have done both paragraphs and resume style point form with success

Yeah I did sentences as well! Just a bit about what I did!! I also chose 3 and wrote about it!!

I applied to U of T, McMaster, Western, Queen's, and York. I already have an undergraduate degree.

I think my final year GPA is 3.93/4 and last 2 years is 3.73-3.76/4. My last 2 years GPA isn't that high so I might only be a realistic candidate for the schools that only look at the most recent years-worth of credits.

I have a  good amount of extracurricular, community involvement, and awards but it seems as though some schools value this more in their application process than others (e.g. U of T, Queen's).

This might be a bit late... but

I've seen previous students' applications and they took different approaches - one listed ECs with brief (2-3 sentences) descriptions while others had 2 large paragraphs (total, around the same length as the personal statement).

Personally, I wrote 4 paragraphs about the 4 strongest experiences I had in terms of community involvement and leadership and tried to minimize repeating things I mentioned in my personal statement. Altogether, my response was around 600 words. I tried to make each paragraph long enough to be impactful but concise enough so that they don't overwhelm the reader or bore them halfway through.

I'm sure whatever you ended up doing will be fine!

Best of luck to everyone who applied! ?

I have a question, most nursing programs say they look at the last 10 credits for GPA, that means your final year of undergrad right?
