Seattle Central Applicants Fall 2011

Published

Hey!

Did anyone else apply yesterday for the Seattle Central Nursing Program? I'm really nervous because I applied early last year and didn't get in. This year, I went directly to the post office across the street right when they opened so hopefully, it'll work this year! Anyone else nervous? Also, does anyone know how many people they accept each year?

Good Luck to everyone. Do you know if they have a waitlist, and if so how many people in the past have gotten in from the waitlist?

They do have a waitlist but they don't announce their waitlisted people. So, if you don't hear from the school but mid-June or so, call and see if you're on the list and what number you are. From what I've heard, usually only the first few people (if any) get put into the program from the waitlist since the amount of students accepted into the program is very small. I was something like number 20 on the waitlist last year and didn't get in...

Really:confused: I was told by Nancy that they didn't have a waitlist. Well that's good to know, and it makes since for them to have one too. BTW, do you know how many people were accepted last year and how many will be for this year?

@katius,

Also, when did you turn in your app? Was it at the beginning, middle or end of the open period last year?

wazeout- Yeah, it's weird, I guess it's not officially called a "waitlist" but it's pretty much the same thing- if you don't get accepted immediately then you get put on a list to fill any spots that open up. I would call it a waitlist but I guess they just don't want to get people's hopes up or something, so they keep it under the radar... I applied on February 15th last year so the class filled up pretty quickly back then. I applied on the 1st this year, just in case they were swarmed with applications again. I think they accepted something like 60 students last year and from what other people have told me, they'll probably accept between 40-60 students this year depending on the budget they have and how many students they can handle.

wazeout- when did you apply this year?

Well lets see,

I went to the post office on the first of Feb. and made sure that it was post marked for that day and had them mail it. Now I would like to say the 1st is when I applied, but that wouldn't be true. So, I'm guessing my app arrived either on the 2nd or 3rd of Feb., but no later than the 5th of the month.

Any word yet? I haven't heard a peep, but I'm thinking they'll send something out this next week or the following week... (since they sent out stuff last year around this time-Memorial Day weekend) Any thoughts or updates?

I haven't heard anything yet either. If i don't hear anything back by the 2nd of week of June I'm going to call. I also heard that they usually don't send out anything until the end of May and that they usually send an email prior to sending out a letter. If anyone hears back though, please let me know.

Hey everybody,

I just called the office and they said the letters will probably be going out the week after Memorial Day weekend (first week of June). They were going to start sending them out this week and next week but the program assistant is now on vacation and so they'll wait to send out letters until she gets back. The lady that I just talked to said we could call next week when the program assistant (Nancy) gets back for more in-depth information but that it will probably be just a little bit longer before we get our acceptance letters in mail. Just letting everybody know!

Thanks for the update!

First of all- thank you katieus for calling and asking! I just got my second acceptance letter (South Puget Sound in Olympia) but I am hoping to pass off that spot and my Lake Washington spot for Seattle Central!
