Many hospitals are doing this because they have no found a link between wearing scrubs and infections. No one rides docs about this if you think about it. Our hospital did a study about a year after the new policy was initiated and the infection rate was less and morale actually more because we could choose our own uniforms and feel good about not looking like a group of wrinkled people mistaken constantly for the other departments in the hospital...AND it saves quite a bit of money for the hospital in laundry and such.

Our hospital wants the staff to purchase and launder their own scrubs. The AORN is very much against this. I am curious to how many hospitals are allowing their staff to wear their own scrubs and launder them and how many are providing scrubs and laundry services. Our hospital delivers 130-160 deliveriers a month
