The University of Rochester, founded in 1850, is a private, non-profit institution. The School of Nursing has been established for more than 90 years.
Programs available range from the undergraduate degree level to master's and doctoral degrees as well as accelerated programs for non-nurses and RN completion degrees.
Undergraduate
Dual Degree (BA/BS and BSN)
This program is designed for high school students who are contemplating a career in nursing. The Dual Degree program gives the option to tandem with the University of Rochester. This will give incoming freshman the option to a BA or BS degree and a BSN degree in four-and-a-half years.
Accelerated Programs for Non-Nurses (BSN and MSN)
For those who already hold a degree, students can earn a bachelor's in just 12 months or a master's degree in nursing in three years with the Accelerated Program for Non-Nurses (APNN).
There are no standardized test scores (GRE) required for admission to the accelerated program.
Graduate
RN to BS and RN to BS to MS
The RN to BS and RN to BS to MS programs are designed for licensed RNs who hold an associate degree or nursing diploma. Students are able to earn a BS in as little as 16 months, on a part-time flexible schedule. Those who want to go on to a MS degree can enroll in the RN to BS to MS program to make the journey shorter. Courses are presented by a hybrid learning style. Hybrid online courses are presented in some in-class sessions and some activities that are completed online. The in class meetings happen only once per month, usually on a weekday evening.
Those who would like to go on for an MS from an RN prepared with an associate's degree or diploma can save time by enrolling in the RN-BS-MS degree program. There are seven programs from which to choose.

Leadership (MS)
Leadership is a necessity in any organization, especially healthcare. The CNL and Health Care Organization Management/Leadership tracks help the master's prepared nurse to learn to lead teams.
Nursing Education (MS and Post MS)
The Master's in Nursing Education program prepares nurses to teach at a college or in a clinical setting.
Post-Master's Certificate
There are post-master's certificates available in six nurse practitioner specialties, nursing education, and as a clinical nurse leader.
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
The post BS/CNL-DNP program is typically completed in five years on a part time status.
The Post-MS to DNP program of study is designed for the RN who holds a master's degree as an NP or CNL and would like to earn a DNP as well as a national specialty certification (if applicable to their specialty). Credit for Master's degree courses will be given. This program is typically completed in 3 years, on a part time study.
MS-PhD Dual Degree
The full time Dual Degree Programs prepare the nurse using a research-intensive curriculum. The courses are full time study and three years in length. Students then continue to a PhD level dissertation proposal and dissertation research.

The PhD program is open to all licensed health professionals who hold a master's degree. At a full time study, this program can be completed in four years.
