The University of Providence, founded by the Sisters of Providence in 1932, offers diversified nursing programs to prepare graduates at all nursing levels to be healthcare leaders. The mission of the Division of Nursing is to produce excellent communicators, clinicians, and change agents who enhance health through evidence-based practice that is population-centered and grounded in spiritual, ethical, and compassionate care.
Programs of Study
- Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing: This 4-year, on-campus nursing program aims to prepare students for a rewarding registered nursing career. The curriculum emphasizes quality education and serving poor and vulnerable patients.
- Online RN to BSN Program: Offers licensed nursing professionals with an associate degree in nursing a progression path to obtaining a BSN.
- Accelerated BSN: Designed for those with a bachelor's degree in another field. It allows them to complete courses and gain clinical experience to prepare them for the nursing profession.

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN):
- Nurse Educator: This 12-month program is designed to prepare currently licensed RNs for a rewarding career in nurse education. The program combines online, asynchronous learning with in-person practicums to prepare students for a job in educating future nurses in hospitals and universities. It is also available as a Post-Graduate Certificate for existing Master of Science in Nursing holders.
- Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner: Designed for graduates motivated to complete this program in seven semesters over 27 months. The MSN program core content is shared between the MSN Nurse Educator and MSN AGNP program tracks.
