Hands-On Learning Experience

The nursing program offers a great advantage to students; the school collaborates with over 250 health and community organizations. This partnership ensures that students receive excellent supervised clinical experiences. As a student, you will have various learning opportunities to enhance your skills and gain a better understanding of the range of care provided by nurses.

Mode of Learning

BSN Program: Offered at both the Twin Cities and Rochester campuses.
MSN Program: Completed in 16 months (4 consecutive semesters, including Summer), this full-time program features weekly on-campus day courses and variable practicums. Students are encouraged to prioritize their studies and reduce work commitments during the program.
DNP Program: Offers both three-year and four-year completion options. All DNP students must attend a one-week on-campus session each semester.
PhD Program: Typically takes 4-5 years to complete.

NCLEX Pass Rate

In 2021, the University of Minnesota Nursing Students accomplished an outstanding feat with an 89% first-time pass rate. This impressive performance significantly surpasses the national average for all first-time test takers educated in the United States, which stood at 82% during the same period.

Admissions at The University of Minnesota

Due to the high level of interest in this program, securing a spot is highly competitive. The application period starts on August 1, and the deadline for submitting nursing applications is November 1. For consideration, applicants are required to submit a complete application, which includes answering supplemental questions specific to nursing.
