Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) is a private, non-profit institution that was founded in 1824.

In 2017, Thomas Jefferson University and Philadelphia University combined to create one university.

Jefferson offers fully accredited nursing degree programs from baccalaureate through doctoral levels. Since 1891, Jefferson's College of Nursing (JCN) has educated women and men as nurse clinicians, educators and researchers.

Undergraduate

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Full-time Accelerated Coursework Track - 1 Year

Students who desire to become a Registered Nurse (RN) have the option to do an accelerated coursework track if the student already holds a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing.

Full-time Accelerated Coursework Track - 2 Year

This program is an accelerated level for students who wish to complete a BSN in two years, at a full time status. After this track students can go into a Master of Science in Nursing in 15 months.

Pre-licensure Students (Traditional Track)

This program is designed for students who would like to become bachelor's prepared nurses and have no prior education or bachelor's degree in another field.

PACE – Plan A College Education Advanced Admission Program

PACE is available for high school seniors who are looking to become registered nurses. This program is for admission to Jefferson College of Nursing through PACE.

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

After completing the BSN, students are eligible to progress to the graduate advanced practice degree.

Nursing Informatics

Graduates are eligible for the Nursing Informatics Clinical Nurse Specialist certification through the American Nurses Association. 

Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Students who complete this program in its entirety have the educational preparation to sit for the ANCC certification in this role and population.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Post-Bachelor of Science in Nursing - The post-BSN is a program available to nurses who have completed their BSN and have a desire to join an accelerated track and earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Post-Master of Science in Nursing - The Post-MSN program is for MSN prepared nurses who would like to complete their DNP. This program is a 36-credit, 2-5 year traditional track for graduates of the MSN program. 

Entry Level Nurse Anesthesia DNP Program

This program is a 36-month, nine-semester program (92 credits). It requires full-time study and includes over 2,000 hours of clinical practice hours. Students will administer more than 600 anesthetics to patients undergoing diagnostic procedures and/or surgery.

Admission Requirements (not all inclusive)

  • At least a 3.2 GPA in their BSN program from an accredited college or university
  • CV/Resume that includes at least one year experience in a critical care nursing setting (ICU/MICU/NICU, PICU, CCU/CTICU/SICU)
  • Current, unrestricted RN License

Accreditation

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.

The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) accredited the Entry Level Nurse Anesthesia DNP program.

Thomas Jefferson University is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
