St. John's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
St. John's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four-year program that provides education and instruction to achieve your goal of becoming a registered professional nurse. It is tailored to high school graduates without any prior college experience or credits.
The nursing program provides a stellar education within the context of our Catholic and Vincentian traditions, which is rich in its perspectives of human dignity, freedom, justice, truth, and respect for the natural world.
The program offers small, in-person classes in a diverse and inclusive environment using innovative technology and evidence-based research for teaching and instruction. A dedicated and experienced nursing faculty provides personal attention, support, and guidance to help students succeed.
State-of-the-Art Health Science Center
When the new St. Vincent Health Sciences Center opens in Fall 2024, nursing students can practice their nursing skills by participating in simulation scenarios in the new state-of-the-art skills labs and simulation center.
Using high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, and standardized patients (actors), students will have a unique opportunity to develop their nursing skills, clinical reasoning, judgment, and confidence in a controlled and safe learning environment.
The College has also partnered with several distinguished healthcare institutions to provide real-life clinical instruction and experiences.
Education Through Experiential Learning
The nursing program at St. John's provides students with a capstone experience in their final semester, allowing them to work alongside experienced registered professional nurses in a preceptorship format to transition to professional practice.
Students are matched within a network of partner hospitals and healthcare agencies for clinical rotations in their junior and senior years. During rotations, they will experience specialty nursing care in various healthcare settings supported by the direct supervision of a nursing faculty member in a large teaching hospital or a small community agency.
