RN-MSN Nurse Practitioner

The CCNE accredited online RN-Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Nurse Practitioner program allows the RN the opportunity to enter two specialty areas.

2 Program Tracks

Family Nurse Practitioner:  The Family Nurse Practitioner program assists students in achieving the knowledge and skills to treat patients across the lifespan.

Adult-Gerontology, Primary Care Nurse Practitioner:  As an RN to nurse practitioner online program, students at SAU receive the opportunity to care for adolescents, adults and the elderly.

RN-MSN/Education

Program Overview

The MSN in Nursing Education offers flexible online courses that have no mandatory login times. Therefore, taking one course that lasts seven weeks keeps the work attainable for the busy nurse. There is an optional residency in Michigan, but no travel is required to complete this program. The option to complete clinicals in your area is available.

Admission Requirements (not all inclusive)

  • BSN accredited program by the National League for Nursing (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Official transcripts from previous education
  • 3.0 GPA from the most recent 60 academic credits
  • Unrestricted/unencumbered, current nursing license
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A two-page goal statement

RN-MSN/MBA

Program Overview

Nurses who attend SAU’s RN-MSN/MBA dual degree program must hold an RN from an accredited nursing program. The RN-MSN/MBA program helps the nurse take clinical knowledge to the administrative side to become a leader within the complex healthcare community system.

RN-MSN/MBA dual-degree program concentrations include:

  1. Health Care Administration
  2. Human Resource Development
  3. Management
  4. Organizational Consulting
  5. Strategic Leadership

Admissions Requirements (not all inclusive)

  • Associate degree or diploma in nursing leading to RN licensure
  • Official transcripts from previous institutions of education
  • 3.0 GPA from the most recent 60 academic credits
  • Unrestricted/unencumbered RN license
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A two-page goal statement

RN-BSN Online Degree

The RN-BSN is offered in a blended format, both on site and online, and is flexible for the working nurse; completed in about 20 months.

Admission Requirements (not all inclusive)

  • 58 transferable semester hours
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 2.5 for prior college work
  • At least one year RN experience
  • Associate or diploma from a National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited school
  • Unrestricted/unencumbered RN license

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a full-time student to take an online course?

There is part-time availability. Many courses are open to on-campus students, guest students, and those that are dual-enrolled.

How many SAU Online courses may I take?

Students wishing to take more than six semester hours must enroll in a degree program or decide to be admitted as a part-time enrollee. Right now, there is currently no limit to the number of courses a student may take online. There are advisors available for students who can assist in signing the student up for classes.
