  1. I've recently moved to MN and I'm attending Chamberlain. I'm pretty far along, but I am worried that MN would only hire DNPs since all of their schools offer DNP only. Are there any NPs from Minnesota that attended an online NP programs and found jobs? Are online schools frowned upon when looking for preceptors? It is hard to find a preceptor as it is, especially not knowing the city.
  2. Thank you for the information. That is a lot to deal with especially when students should be concentrating on school work. I will continue where I am currently. I guess there is no perfect place.
  3. Thank you for all of the information. That certainly helps me gain perspective in what it is like. It sounds like a good program to go to.
  4. Thank you for your input. That helps me get an idea. Congratulations on your success!
  5. Do you feel that the school prepared you enough for the boards? Were you prepared enough to go into practicum? I'm afraid that preceptors will expect something more in our first practicum than what the school prepares us. Otherwise I am excited about the program. Did you have papers to write in your practicum classes or the papers are kind of done once the core classes are over?
  6. I'm also considering SAU because of their flexibility. How many practicum days per week do you do if it's a 3 year track. From what I calculated it is about one, maybe I'm wrong. Also, do you know the workload of the practicum classes. Are there a lot of papers to write during practicum. Students at other school are complaining that during their practicum they are writing papers as well along with other assignments which leaves them less time to study.
  7. I'm looking for a feedback on FNP program at Concordia in Wisconsin. I can't really find any student reviews. I know that the program extends to 4 years part time, which is longer than most schools. Just wanted to know what classes are like, work load and how long are the classes 8 weeks or full semester? Is it doable while working?
  8. How many days of practicums a week do you do?
  9. Thank you for your reply. How is the reputation of this school? Do others feel prepared for the boards? They told me it requires 10-15 hours of studying per week. It just seems like nothing compared to every other school, which is a little weird. Their boards pass rate is 88% which is not that low. During your practicum, how much load is the course work such as papers? I feel that in all schools you have to basically teach yourself which sucks.
  10. Thanks. With clinical placement I do not worry so much since I have potential sites. I am more concerned about the reputation of the school and I really do not know much about this school. I am good with writing papers, but during clinical hours I would think that they would have us concentrate on boards and clinical part.
  11. Hi, I am looking into Spring Arbor University for my FNP degree. Is there someone currently in the program who can explain what the classes are like. Mostly in terms of writing papers. How many pages? How many per class? How about clinical portion? Some students from schools like Chamberlain are complaining that while in clinicals/practicum, instead of focusing on learning and preparing for boards, they are stuck writing papers along with other things. I am eager to learn and I want to prepare the best I can. The school is changing tests so much, that students are failing. Is Spring Arbor a reputable place? Do you feel prepared enough to go into clinicals.
