Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU), a private, non-profit university, was founded in 1895 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and follows Roman Catholic traditions.

In 1895, the Notre Dame of Maryland (NDMU) School of Nursing admitted the first class of women pursuing a four-year baccalaureate degree.

Undergraduate

Entry-Level Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

The four-year Entry-Level Bachelor of Science in Nursing is designed for non-nurses that have a desire to study in the Women's College. Location of the program:  Main Campus.

Students have the option to enter the University for their sophomore year as a nursing major to complete general education requirements. These courses are based in the field of liberal arts and other areas before taking core nursing courses during the junior year.

In order to be a transfer student during the Junior year, applicants must apply for acceptance.

RN to BSN

The accelerated RN to BSN program provides the opportunity for RNs to complete their BSN and other classes, including sciences and liberal arts, in an accelerated format. Locations are:  Main Campus and Online.

Up to 60 college credits will be accepted in transfer. Community college nursing credits are not accepted for transfer.

All RNs with an active license in Maryland or a compact state will be granted 30 upper-level nursing credits per the Articulation Model.

RNs will complete the remaining 31 upper-level nursing credits and any additional program requirements through Notre Dame. In order to graduate, a minimum of 30 must be earned from Notre Dame. The final 30 credits for the degree must be earned at Notre Dame.

Clinical Experiences

The student's Junior year is the first in which the student will have core nursing courses. This also includes the clinical portions for hands-on learning experiences. Students take courses with clinical components every semester.

The classroom concepts are incorporated into the clinical portions of the degree program. The student is able to apply the concepts learned to help care for patients under the supervision of a clinical instructor. The simulation lab offers realistic experience to the nursing student with scenarios to practice in a safe environment.

Study Abroad

The Community Health Clinical Experience offers an experience to study abroad in Haiti as part of the program. It is an optional program.

Graduate

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

The MSN is accelerated, but completed in a collaborative, caring environment. The program meets the needs of the nurse who has the desire to complete the MSN Leadership in Nursing Administration and/or Education. Location:  Main Campus.

Class Schedules

MSN classes are usually taken sequentially, one class at a time, on the same day of the week, and during the same four-hour period throughout the entire program.

To give the best experience possible, practicum experiences are specific to meet your professional goals. The facility coordinates the clinical placements.

Post-MSN Certificates

The Post-MSN certificate programs are available to graduates of an MSN, DNP, or PhD program, or those currently enrolled in a MSN program at NDMU. Location:  Main Campus.
