Concordia University Wisconsin, overlooking the scenic shores of Lake Michigan, has a rich history that began long before its current location. Originally established as Concordia College in downtown Milwaukee in 1881, the institution served students in the city's core until 1983, expanding its offerings to include programs in education, nursing, social work, and engineering. Anticipating future growth, the college moved in 1982 to the former School Sisters of Notre Dame campus in Mequon, just 15 minutes north of Milwaukee. It gained university status in 1989, becoming the first institution in the Concordia University System. Concordia is especially known for its nursing program, which provides a rigorous, Christ-centered education that prepares students for compassionate, professional nursing careers.
