Cape Fear Community College (CFCC), originally founded as Wilmington Industrial Education Center (WEIC) in 1958, began as a vocational training institution in Wilmington, North Carolina. Initially, it served high school students during the day and adults in the evenings within its 32,000-square-foot facility.
A pivotal change occurred in 1963 when the North Carolina General Assembly established a Department of Community Colleges, leading to WEIC's transformation into Cape Fear Technical Institute (CFTI). With robust local industry and community support, CFTI expanded its facilities and programs through a significant bond issue, allowing it to meet growing demand. In 1988, the institution was renamed Cape Fear Community College to reflect its broader educational mission. The college continued to grow, opening a new campus in northern New Hanover County in 2002, further cementing its role in the region's educational landscape.
Hands-On Learning Experience
Students who enroll in the Nursing Program at CFCC embark on an educational journey that equips them with comprehensive knowledge and essential skills. This program prepares students to offer top-notch nursing care to individuals and groups across different life stages and healthcare settings. Beyond a robust curriculum, the program stands out for its commitment to delivering high-quality education, specifically designed to meet the aspirations of those in the community keen on launching or advancing their careers as registered nurses.
MODE OF LEARNING
The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN/ADN) program is a comprehensive two-year course designed to provide a solid foundation in nursing. The LPN to ADN RN hybrid option offers a three-semester program combining online and in-person instruction with a clinical practicum for licensed practical nurses transitioning to registered nursing.
NCLEX-RN Pass Rate
In 2023, the School of Nursing achieved a remarkable milestone by attaining a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination). This outstanding success underscores the exceptional quality and dedication of both the faculty and students.
Admissions at CFCC
The Nursing School implements a Selective Admission Process for its programs, emphasizing the importance of academic excellence and preparation. One of the fundamental prerequisites for application is completing the TEAS test.
Given the program's small class sizes, admission is highly competitive, ensuring that only the most qualified and dedicated applicants are chosen. This approach guarantees a focused and enriched learning environment for aspiring nurses.
