BON Secours Memorial College of Nursing's history has always been about loving and caring for the sick. Established in 1961 to support the building of Richard Memorial Hospital, the hospital honored WWII victims from Richard and provided care to all races and backgrounds, regardless of financial capacity.

The first certificate awarded by BON Secours Memorial College of Nursing was a diploma in nursing. Inspired by the Catholic "Sisters of BON Secours Ministry,” known for their legacy of caring for the sick, the college has always integrated nursing into its vision. Renamed in 1988, the college introduced its first four-year nursing degree in 2010.
