It seems you did the right thing for yourself. BUT, I can also see thier point... if the student is not good at mathm, who would want them to be their nurse if they can't calculate how much of a medication to give? Overdosages lead to problems, including death. It is extremely important to be good at math. Mind you, there isn't a whole lot of math to do, so if can't handle the few types of calculations and conversions nurses need to know... by all means... you should not be an RN.
I've had my share of for-profit-school. Once I graduate, I will continue my education at a public school too. Prices are insane in private schools, but they usually get you on the field a lot faster. Still, it's not for everyone. If I had know then what I knwo now, I would've also bailed my school, but realized it when I was too deep into the program.
Good for you! Good luck too !!! :)

I was about to apply to a for profit school to get my ADN. I was so excited to get started ASAP! The price for the school is 50,000 and its not even accredited by the NLNAC. I cant believe I even considered paying this much. It wasnt until this week that I realized I needed to do what every other nursing student has done, start at the bottom and work my way up. As tempting as the school was (getting to start right away) I am happy to say that starting September I will be attending my local community college and taking the necessary pre-reqs for their nursing program. The total for this program is about 16,000. 16,000 for an accredited school dollars compared to 50,000 for a non accredited school...wow, I cant believe it took me so long to realize what a mistake I would be making.
