I am doing running start (college in the high school) for two years at a community college that offers a direct transfer pre-nursing associates degree. Do I then apply to nursing school and do four more years of schooling to get my BSN? Or does the pre-nursing associates degree allow me to be an RN after I take the NCLEX exam?
Any advice you have on applying to nursing school would be much appreciated. Thank you!

To be able to apply to BSN nursing programs you will need to do around 4 semesters of pre requisite classes first. Upon completion of all the pre requisites you will most likely have what you call a "pre-nursing associates degree" which is an Associates of science, this is not in anyway a nursing degree. Once you have taken all these classes you can then apply to BSN programs which will take around two years to complete.
Pre requisites at CC (4ish semesters and Associates of Science when finished) > Now eligible to apply to BSN programs > BSN program (4 semesters) > Nurse!
As for advice in applying for nursing school, it sounds like you are doing all your BSN prereqs at a CC so make sure you are taking the right classes, each school may want a couple different classes than other ones do. Just make the best grades possible and strive for a 3.5gpa or better. It sounds like you are still in high school so you are getting a good head start by already accumulating college credits. I hope this answers your questions, the path to become a nurse can be confusing at times due to the several different ways that it can be achieved.
