School/Work/Family

The dreaded trifecta. I have a 2.5 month old son and last August my husband and I decided that I should go back to school to get my MSN. Only a few weeks into the program I was ready to drop out, it just wasn't for me, but he convinced me to continue and I did, consistently unhappy the whole time. Fast-forward to last month when my husband began a new job (which would affect childcare while I was at class) and we realized that the classes I would have to take would keep me from my son for over 15 hours with school and work so finally he agreed with me that I should drop...close to $10,000 in loans later ughh.

So we decided to do an online program so I could be with our son more. I wanted to wait a month or so before starting but guess who convinced me that I needed to do it now? So now here I am going to school when I don't want to while working everyday AND we're moving in a couple of months which I am excited for but nervous about at the same time. Just looking for some support because all everyone around me is saying is "the sooner you start the schooling, the sooner you'll be done". All I wanted was a little break with my life changing so drastically so quick.

I'm sorry. It seems that your problem is with your husband. If the MSN program isn't for you, it isn't for you. That's your decision to make and although it does ultimately affect your family, if it isn't for you it's a waste of your time and your money. Then you say "we" decided to do an online program, but you weren't ready to start it. You started it anyway at your husband's behest. Again, if you aren't ready for it, it's a waste of your time and your money. "Everyone around you" isn't doing the work. You are. So you get to decide when you're ready and when you're not.
