Hello!
I have been working as an OR nurse for the past 7 months (my first job out of nursing school). My dream job is a school nurse, especially since my husband it a teacher- we can have similar schedules!! I turned in my resume/applied for a job, and am going to interview tomorrow!
I am researching and trying to best prepare myself for this interview. I did a clinical rotation as a school nurse, but have otherwise had no experience in this realm and really have less than 1 yr experience as an RN, BSN period. Help!

Congratulations and Best Wishes! please keep us posted after the interview as well! Be sure to emphasize your interest in health promotion as well as disease prevention; your interest in working with families as well as individual students, and point out your value as a health-care resource to school staff as well. Knowing that you have an interest in the welfare of staff and families as well as the kids is important. Acknowledge your desire to do all you can to keep kids in school where they can be learning. Brush up on common childhood communicable diseases and immunizations that are required for school entry. Stress that healthy kids are better learners, and educated students bring out the best in any school district. A child might fail a class and jeopardize his future, but without good health, there is no future. When I had my job interview, I was asked if I had any knowledge about the district's health education curriculum. If you have time, try to find out if this district has an approved health education curriculum and familiarize yourself with some of the lessons and objectives. Again, Good Luck and keep us posted!
Thanks for the advice!!
