Greetings! I'm new here. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintances.
I was curious if CRNA schools generally offer scholarships to exceptional students. Is anyone on scholarship or know anyone that is?
Thanks in advance.

If you mean a full scholarship, I think that would be unusual. Anesthesia programs are very expensive to run, and many operate at a loss, the money is hard to come up with. There are several smaller scholarships offered annually through the AANA Foundation, but they are in the $1,000-2500 range. The program I went too had a couple every year in the same range. Programs can also apply for a federal grant, and the money is split amoung all the students, that can be around $700-1000 a year. Not every program goes to the trouble to apply, and there is no guarentee that it will be funded year to year. The military has a stipend program that nurse anesthesia students can apply for. It gives you a monthly check, and then you pay back with military service. I think the majority of money comes from loans for most SRNAs, maybe a spouse working, and some savings.
Much thanks. That's what I needed to know.

I am starting at University of Cincinnati in Sept '08, they offer up to 60% of out of state for qualifying GRE scores. I am sure there are others. I am also taking part in the ARMY stipend program. It was just raised to $1907 per month plus drill pay (that varies according to rank/time in service). They also have a $50K loan repayment program, GI Bill, and cheap med insurance ($253/month for family).

Beedog,
What is the cut off for age for the scholarship? I looked at the Air Force and they said 38 was the cut off. I am 42 so I did not qualify.
Let me know if you have this information.
Thanks,
