Hi all
any help on how to get some scholarship?I applied to many but always get disqualified because of some criteria that i do not meet. sometimes i have to be athletic or over certain age to be qualified for it. yet i do really need some help on how to get some finanicial help through sholarship. i work in child care so hard however the pay is only around 7.5 which makes it very difficult for me to pursue my schooloing. i tried lately to get the CNA certificate but the cost of it in my college is 850 $ :uhoh21: :uhoh21: which i can not really afford because such money i rather use it paying for my pre-requisite for nursing.
thank you for redaing my email although it is long. any feed back is appreciative.

Hi, Hali! I don't know what state you are in, but in some states you can get your CNA through a nursing home. You get hired on when they are ready to start a CNA class. The state I was in (Ohio) gave these aides 4 months to get their certification (there were certain sites they went to for testing). If they were not certified within that 4 months they couldn't work as an aide. Good thing about this was that you didn't have to put out any money for the course and you got paid because you were working for the nursing home. Have you checked where you live to see if this, or something like it is offered. You can find out by calling a couple of nursing homes and asking.
About scholarships, try contacting your state board of nursing. Someone in their office should have a listing of "nursing" scholarships that are being offered. The nursing scholarships are out there because of the need for nurses.
Also, if you get employed as a CNA. . .some employers give tuition (and textbook) reimbursement as a job benefit. They might put a couple of restrictions on it (have to pass the course with at least a C, they cap their payment off at $1,000 a year, or you have to be employed for 6 months before you can get this benefit.), but its another way to get some of your tuition paid for.
