Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to pay for nursing school (I mean, aside from the obvious - i.e. loans, etc)?
Are there any scholarships out there for nursing students in NJ?
Does anyone know where to go to find information on which hospital participate in loan forgiveness programs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ideas:
Check with your state Department of Health - I know they have scholarships and payback if you work in an underserved area (county, VA etc).
I found alot of scholarships online. search "nursing+scholarships +anything else that you can think of/that sets you apart from others (your ethnicity, age, have kids, disability, etc) There are several free sites you can find online that are free that you can create a profile and they send you tons of scholarships (although you have to weed through the ones that pertain to you sometimes)
Also, just check with your financial aid office. Ask them about Pell Grants, if you are the first person in your family to go to college and if they have any other grants/scholarships you can apply for.
I kept tract of all the scholarships I found through all the means listed above and kept them in a bolder with dates of when due, applications, etc. So, if the app was not due now, I could remember to do it later. Also, save copies of any recommendations/awards etc that you get because you can resuse them. Also, any essays you write for a scholarship, save it becuase once you get one essay done, you can usually revant it to another scholarship app.
There are lots of books at your local library that expain other idea for paying for school too. That might help. It's almost a job in itself keeping and getting scholarships/grants, but soo worth it.
Just keep your eyes open everywhere. And check out nursing websites, etc. There's alot out there, it's just finding them.
hope that helped a bit.
