Can anyone tell me if you receive a scholarship award from Excelsior in April do you have

to wait until the following April to receive another award or are you eligible for August

disbursement as well? :confused:Thanks everyone!:nurse:

Scholarships are awarded once per year but because the new school year starts in June (2011 - 2012) you would be eligible for another scholarship.

Have you already received April's disbursement? I am also waiting to get one, I was told the maximum is $500 unless you're CPNE eligible then it could be more.

want to transfer to Excelsior.

The disbursement is 3x's per year (ea qtr) but according to my convesation with the financial aid ofc, each student gets ONLY 1 disbursement per year. You can reapply the next year when you complete your FAFSA. The scholarships are need based therefore the less you earn the better your chance. If your EFC = 0 then you definitely qualify. Also bear in mind scholarship funds from EC are never paid to the student. It is kept in the student's account at EC to pay for any remaing exams. They will NOT mail you a check for any bal. left over!

Yeah most scholarship money goes directly to the college so they get their payment first. Since you haven't heard from them yet, when do they disburse

it to students in May?

my recommendation is to CALL the Finanical Aid office, inquire about whether or not you were chosen...back in Dec I called to inquire if all the military spouse scholarships had been given out yet, she pulled up my info, had me fax over my ID card copy, and my husband's info for being in the Army and the next day awarded me the $500 scholarship...had i not called i never would have even been considered! so just a heads up!

Ummmm, I've gotten 2 disbursements from EC Presidential Scholarship. Both in the same year! One was in April last year of $350 then another I think in November for $500. They have been GREAT to me!

Yes you are correct! It's possible to get 2 scholarship in the same CALENDAR year BUT it is NOT the same FAFSA year!! FAFSA year runs from July 1 -June 30 of each year. So once the new school year rolls around (July 1st 2011 -June 30th 2012) you will become eligible again for another disbursement BUT you wont receive 2 disbursement in the same FAFSA period! I hope I explained that well enough.

i called they told me i had to wait until the new school year to get another one...i got one in December for the 10-11 yr and starting in june is the 11-12 yr then i will be eligible again...but i plan on being graduated by then so who knows lol

You can only receive one per year (fafsa year July 2010-June 30, 2011). Since you received one in Sept 2010 you will not be eligible for another until the new aid year - July 2011-June 2012). I am still waiting for a disbursement. I was told disbursements will continue through the month of April so I'm giving them another week!
