Hello. I am a 29 year old male, with schizophrenia which is medically managed with my psychiatrist's help (ie meds). I have been accepted to an LPN program, however, will schizophrenia prevent me from getting a license in the state of North Carolina?
I'll second that. Some places may be an outright no, others will want more information. But I'd want to find out before spending the time and money to go to school.
As long as it has been managed, you should be fine, but always consult the BON. The Bar of Attorneys in CA would be harsher than the BON. Hell, there's a schizophrenic professor of law in CA. Take care of yourself, take your meds, and go for it!
Consulted with the NCBON, and was told it wouldn't be a problem. All applicants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, regardless of criminal records or substance abuse issues (according to the ADA laws). Thanks for all of your help.
