schedules on your assignments....

I am wondering if you have to take whatever schedule they give you as far as how many days in a row, how many weekends, night shift? I would love to get into travel nursing but hate working night shift and more than 2-3 twelve hour shifts in a row put me over the edge........I am I too picky to be a travel nurse or can all these things be a part of the bargain?

Generally you accept the contract based on it being day or night shift. Of course there are generally more night shift available, but you know this when applying. I ask about policy for scheduling when I interview the hospital, and would not take a contract if they told me I was just being given whatever was left over. I do accept being "plugged into the holes" if I am starting in the middle of an existing already posted current schedule, but want some input (esp. # of shifts in a row) after that. If I need something specific off during the contract, I let them know that also during the interview. If they can't accomodate that, then they probably won't offer me the position.
