I'll be applying to both the State College of Florida Bradenton and Venice campus, hoping for Bradenton. I went to an info session the other day and heard that both campuses have 40 seats available, and Bradenton is the more competitive campus. They rank you only by your gpa in the required classes and only look at pass or fail for the TEAS.
Personally my gpa is going to be alright for the main classes but when it comes to my microbiology grade, I've been stuck in a mental rut trying to figure out if I can retake the class. I have MCB 3020 from another college and I got a C, and I don't know if that counts as my MCB 2010 grade. They count your first attempt for any classes you take (You can retake a D or F grade class though) so I have no idea if it counts. Can't do my degree audit because I'm still not technically a student at SCF with their slow admissions. If anyone has ideas on this let me know.
I have a friend who has gone through SCF-Bradenton's entire RN program and she liked it overall, and she is in their online BSN class now. I can ask her questions too if anyone has any.
So guys, welcome to the thread!

Hey! I'm actually not planning on attending SCF, so I hope that this isn't crashing your thread! As far as the two different MCB course numbers... I took a lot of classes as a transient student that had different course numbers than the same class at my school. If you took a transferable microbiology then I would be willing to bet that is what they will use. Dont beat yourself up over the C too much. I got a C in stats and thought it would murder my GPA, but it actually wasn't as bad as I thought.
I applied for FSW spring 2017, currently waiting for an answer. I wanted to ask - SCF really ONLY uses GPA ? That seems so crazy to me. FSW uses GPA, TEAS score, and number of prereqs completed. The TEAS score makes or breaks you, if you score low then your total admission points will be low.

Hey, thanks for creating a thread for SCF Fall 2017! I attended an info session as well and they said if you apply to both campuses you are stuck with whichever one they give you. So I'll be applying to just the Bradenton campus. I don't remember her saying that Bradenton was more competitive tho but I hope it's not too bad.
I'm not sure about what they will accept for your microbiology grade. You should email the lady who hosted the info session. She did say that they rank people based on GPA of prerequisites and then based on GPA for the most general education required courses.
I recently got an answer, my micro class didn't actually transfer! So I'm retaking it in the spring. And yep, I think it is a little crazy that a lot of colleges around here only use gpa and nothing else such as letters of rec or TEAS scores. St Petersburg college breaks the rules a little with using GPA but also checking to see if you are a Pinellas County resident for priority admissions, so I probably won't be going there.

Im glad I found a SCF 2017 thread. Until recently I though SCF only had the nursing program at the bradenton campus so I was only considering FSW. Now I'm looking to apply for the 2018 spring semester at the Venice location. I'm going to need some time to finish up my pre-reqs in the mean time.
Is there anyone out there that is currently going through the program at the Venice campus that could give some insight/share their experience so far...?
GoforErin,
How did you find the statistics class at SCF with respect to difficulty? I took A&P 1 last semester while working full time and it required a lot of time to achieve a 4.0 in it. Compared to A&P 1 how difficult is statistics for someone who if pretty strong in math? I'm trying to determine whether I can take English comp 1 with statistic in the summer semester at SCF while working full time and still maintain good grades..
Any input you could give would be great.
Thanks

I took statistic last semester and my professor at the Bradenton campus made it hard and I'm pretty good in math. You just need to study a lot and be sure to understand word problems and also how to use your calculator. But i believe you will do great taking statistics and English in the same semester. I took statistics and A& P 2 in the same semester. I finished statistics with a high B.
Hey everyone, the deadline is fast approaching and I haven't seen any activity on this thread! I'm excited. I'm applying to SCF Bradenton campus for fall. I would love to connect with others as we wait to hear back about acceptance! =)
Hi Erinjane1989,
I'm excited to be applying to the program. I planning on applying to the Bradenton campus but I'm waiting for my microbiology grade to be on my transcripts before I open my application and submit it.
