I have been coming to this site and reading all of everyone's threads and posts and they have been really encouraging to me. I finally took the plunge and joined.
I am taking the NCLEX for the 2nd time on April 8 and am EXTREMELY nervous (everyone is when they take it, right?) I failed the 1st time with all 265 questions and took 5 1/2 hours. I was so drained after I tested that I prayed that I would never have to take it again. Well, I got home and did the "trick" and sure enough, I got the CC screen. I cried it out for a good couple of hours and then brushed myself off and said, well at least I know what the test is like now and what to expect.
Well, now that I am about a week and a half away from testing again, I am really nervous that I will fail again. I used kaplan and mosby the 1st time around and I studied all the time and I really think I drained myself before the test even came. I am using Saunders and the NCLEX 3500 this time around and have been studying quite a bit but I have come to the realization that life still goes on and this test is not my only obligation. I am trying to stay as positive as possible. I have been averaging in the 60-80% with the practice tests.
I graduated in December and am just so frustrated that I can't "start my life" because of this one test. I had a job offer that was taken away after I failed. I just fear that I will NEVER be able to have that RN after my name.
Thank so much for the tips and CONGRATULATIONS on PASSING!!!! RN :nurse:!!
I am trying my best to focus my studying on the areas that I really am not that comfortable with and review everything else that does not fit in that category.
Does anyone know if there are audio questions on the new April addition of the test? I know that the changes are minimal but I heard that there are some audio things added. Is this true?
Wow "wannabRN86" we had the exact same experience with the test (well now that I thnk about it my computer malfunctioned and shut off in the middle of the test and they had to prove that I wasnt cheating before starting my test back up) ugh what a crappy experiece!!..I take my test tomorrow April 12th and also did saunders and at least 1500 questions from the cd...please let us know how you did and if saunders helped you out....I also graduated in december and lost my internship bcs I didnt pass the first time
..I love allnurses.com because I was always too embarrassed to talk to my nursing buddies cuz they all passed and i didnt, but our time will all come!! We didnt get thru nursing school for nothing!! Cant wait to hear that you passed!! Let us know soon!!
I actually delayed taking it. I am taking it on April 22. I took a temporary job and decided to pospone it a bit because I would not be studying as much during the day as I was before.
We did make it through nursing school and I am sure that you will do (did?) fine. How did you do? What types of questions did you get? (if you don't mind me asking) I have heard that a lot of people are getting a lot of infection control and prioritizing questions as well as a few audio breath sounds.
I am feeling pretty comfortable with my studying as of right now. I am doing about 100 questions a night and I review my material every chance I get. I am putting a lot of prayer into this as well as I know I can only get through this with the help of God!!
Please let me know how the test went for you? I would love to know!!! :)

Just recently passed the exam after my second attempt. Got 3 sata, 3 calculations and lots of prioritization and delegation..To select the best answer in prioritization you should be familiarized with the diseases and its side effects, side effects will certainly not be prioritized coz its normal,(for ex crohns disease, s/e is bloody diarrhea), and for delegation remember the accronym ATE..Assessment (newly admitted), Teaching (discharging patients) and Evaluation should never be delegated,LPN can handle chronic cases, stable client and routine procedures, UAP with ADL..and of course be familiarize with the normal values , its very important..
