Scared about my CNA exam. Any advice, tips?

I am taking my CNA exam in 4 days.

Anyone have any tips on passing? Basically I am freaking out about the skills part.

I am good with most of my skills. I got down, and can do. But I get really stressed out and nervous when under pressure. I am a real shy person, and when attention is all on me, I freak out. I have anxiety attacks and all that.

One of my big thing is indirect care. And no I am not talking about providing privacy and all that. I am talking about keeping up a conversation with my "patient" at the time of the test. I have a hard time doing that, let alone when I am being watched and having all this pressure on me. Any tips on that?

I work home health, so my job is to go to my patients homes. I am better at keeping conversations with someone when I am not under pressure. I did fine during my clinical's at school.

I have gone over every practice test I can find. I have gone over all my papers from class.

Just any tips or advice would be great right now.

Thanks!

Thank you so much! I was really scared. I am so glad I did. :) I feel "Official" now. lol

ok. I failed the WA state test the first time. I forgot to record the blood pressure. So, does anyone know if when you retake the test if they have you do the same skills over?

I remember my CNA I exam to be fairly easy well the written portion was because it was common sense what would you do questions. The skills part got me and I had to re-take the exam and when I re-took it my person who was supposed to be watching me stayed on the phone and I was saying every step of the skill which you don't have to do but I like talking through it. When I found out she failed me I went to the state about it and got a free skills re-examination, which the lady who watched me do it that time was very attentive to me and made my experience better. Just be confident in knowing your skills, you got it! If you want to be a CNA II, I don't know how that is ran in your state but I know in mine we didn't have any major skills test it was just getting checked off and taking a big written exam before clinicals. My certification for level 2 is ran by our state board of nursing which is nice.

I just talked through my skill the whole time. 'Alright Mr. Jones, now I need to give you a bed bath if that's okay with you. Great, let me wash my hands & get my equipment together. Here's your call light & your bed is in low position. I'll be right back. I got your washcloths & towels & clean gown. I'm going to fill the basin with water. This water feels good to me, how about you? Great. I'm going to start with your eyes wiping inner aspect to outer aspect. Okay, next eye. Now I'm going to wash your face.' Etc etc etc.

Tell yourself that you know what you are doing. You know your stuff. You are good at it. Act like it's a normal day at work. You will be fine. :)
