Savannah RN Salary Info please

My husband and I will likely be moving to Savannah this fall, and I would like to know the average starting RN salary at the area hospitals. I would really appreciate any information anyone can provide, as I read all the salary threads on here and haven't found any information about Savannah salary range. I emailed HR at a couple of places and haven't heard back yet.

It really depends on whether I would make a salary that was worth it as to whether I go back to the hospital, at least until after the baby is born. If I wont be paid that well in the hospital, I will just do private duty because it is easy and low stress. In my opinon it isn't worth the extra stress for another $1 or $2 an hour I would make in the hospital. I would rather know sooner than later so I wont bother going thru the whole hiring process if I don't feel it is worth the effort. Also, it will help me know which hospital pays better, and I can narrow it down to 1 or 2 places to apply to.

I'm a fairly new RN graduate (December 07) and worked 2 years as an LPN prior to getting my RN (some places count it as experience. I will have worked 6 months in med/surg by the time we move. I hope to move to into OB (L&D or mother/baby). Thanks in advance for any info!

Hello!

There are three hospitals in Savannah:

1) Memorial University Medical Center (www.memorialhealth.com) where I work

2) St. Joseph's/Candler - Candler Campus

3) St. Joseph's/Candler - St. Joe's Campus

The starting salary for a new grad I think is around $23 to $24/hr. The hospitals are competative and will adjust your salary accordingly. I've been out of school for three years and am an RN III and make about $25 an hour, but I boosted that up by $12/hr by doing the weekend program wherein I work every Fri, Sat, and Sun.

Sorry I don't know anything more specific!

Good luck!

Christen,

I could kiss you! That is exactly the info I needed! Thank you sooo much! The hospital I currently work for locally offers $35/hr if you decline benefits and it was going to be hard to walk away from that money...but I would gladly do the weekend program, as my husband would be working the same days at Gulfstream....we may have to work opposite shifts, and get a babysitter for the overlapping time. But we could be off Monday-Thursday as a family. Thanks again for the great news, I really appreciate it and it helps with our decision. :bow:Yesterday we were talking about staying so I could make the premium here, but it looks like I can match it there.

LOL - well, if you end up at Memorial be sure to let me know! To go into further detail, there are several programs available: 1) weekend program (fri, sat, sun in critical care; fri, sat, sun or sat, sun, mon elsewhere); 2) night program; 3) prn pool. You can make the most in the pool, but like your previous job, you have to loose your benefits.

I'm not sure how it works at St. Joe's/Candler, as I haven't been there since clinicals.

One more question for ya! Do benefits start from day one or do you have to wait 90 days? This is another important factor, since Im pregger's, we cant have a lapse in medical insurance. Ill definitely let you know if we move there and I end up at memorial, I wont know another soul in the area lol.
