Savannah area hospitals

U.S.A. Georgia

I will be moving to the Richmond Hill area and I'm wondering if anyone can give me any info on the Hospitals in Savannah. Thanks!

The 3 big hospitals in Savannah are Memorial, St Joe's and Candler. Memorial is a level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital. I have worked here and loved it, there is a great teaching and learning aspect and a lot of cooperation between MDs and nurses. I haven't worked at the other two, so I can only tell you what I've heard. St Joe's and Candler are two connected hospitals. They are private hospitals with religious affiliation. St Joe's is known especially for being a heart hospital. Both hospitals have ICUs and can take pretty advanced patients. There are also several smaller hospitals around Richmond Hill. Hinesville is 30 minutes away (the same distance as RH from Sav). There is a small hospital there that has about 25 beds. They only admit Med-Surg level pts. Fort-Stewart is the army base connected to Hinesville, and Wynn Army Hospital is there. It has a level 2 trauma ER, small ICU, etc. Obviously, most patients are vets or active duty/dependents. There are also small hospitals in Effingham County (everyone says the pay is amazing) and Statesboro. You may want to apply to a hospital depending on your preferred specialty.

Minor correction: Winn Army Community Hospital (Ft. Stewart) doesn't have an ICU, only a PCU (progressive care unit). Patients requiring ICU-level care are transferred out to the surrounding area, usually Memorial or St. Joe's. Winn also has inpatient behavioral health and a med/surg ward, as well as primary care clinics for adults and peds. Jobs at Winn are posted on usa.gov. :)

The jobs at the hospital in Effingham would have to pay well because they have nothing there. I used to live in Rincon and have been to that hospital / nursing home but would not go back if I could help it.
