Set my alarm clock for 7:30, but didn't get up until 9 AM. Now it is 9:20 and I am drinking coffee and stretching out my achey lower back. I have to put some clothes on and go get Nannie up in a few minutes. I am not going to put on my new outfit right now because I'm afraid I will somehow stain it, but it will be a quick change when it is time to go.
Dread, dread, dread. OH WELL!
Later, y'all~~~~~~
Hope your work weekend is good, Tweety.
97 sounds hot, Joe, but The Cheesecake Factory sounds good.
It's "only" 86 right now. I took care of my thirsty plants. The flowers look OK but the cherry tomato was pretty droopy.
Got the all-clear from the retina specialist for another year. It has been almost 6 years since the detachment and almost 5 since the surgery for the macular hole. Twin B did the driving instead of Hubs because Hubs "hates having to wait" while I'm with the doctor. I was glad I had someone else to drive home, though.
I finally mailed to my sister the fun socks I bought in San Diego (books and kittens and they say "so many books, so little time").
Stars, I hope the wedding goes easily.
PHEW! It is over with and we are home. It's a good thing SiL's sister drove out and back with us following her! The ride was ten miles of WAAAAAY out on the twisty, turny, country-side roads. I almost asked them how they chose that church, like did they throw a dart at the map? There were about 70+ people attending the wedding, most from the groom's family, and maybe 20 of the bride's family and guests. I did not even recognize my nephew until he tapped me on the shoulder to say hello. He is 6'2" tall and quite big around, and had a very short, short haircut. I met his new girlfriend who is ten years older than him, but they didn't look 'mismatched', due to the age difference. BiL opined that for his dgt, (my niece), perhaps this third time would be the charm. Her 1st husband died after 5-6 years, [because, like my hubby, he was a diabetic and he drank too much.], and from the second one she got a divorce after 4 years, because he was a major, officious pain in the patoot. Her dgt was from that 2nd husband.
Anyway, it was a lovely (and nicely short) ceremony, then after the various group pictures were all taken, we went over to the community-room part of the church and had lunch....(BBQ pulled pork, chicken, beans, coleslaw, little baby potatoes, green beans and rolls.) Good thing, too, because all Nannie had time for this AM was her meds and 1/2 glass of cran-apple. SiL made us a huge 'to-go' plate to bring home for our supper.
When we got back in our house, I had Nannie go straight to the bathroom, and changed her into 'everyday' clothes. I asked her if she was tired, and she shook her head no. By the time I got my car parked, had changed into my everyday clothes, and made myself a cup of coffee, she had closed her eyes and was fading fast. It was really, REALLY LOUD+ in the community room, and that was kind of wearing; it made me tired, too, but I don't believe I will nap any; I plan to just enjoy the peace and quiet while Nannie sleeps.
So, my niece looked very pretty in her wedding dress ( she has a great figure) and it was very simple and becoming. Her 8 y.o. dgt was one of the bridesmaids, as were 2 of the groom's girls, 8 and 10 y.o., and they looked very cute in their blue dresses with their long hair nicely braided, each with a different style of braids. And It was quite funny when the little ring bearer, who was a 2 year old boy, got halfway down the aisle and realized everyone was looking at him, and he turned on a dime and ran back out FAST......and he did that twice! There was also a young girl who has Down's Syndrome, (she was not a member of the wedding party but wanted to be), and she, unfortunately, did not want to do anything her parents told her to do, but at least they got her to stop yelling (to hear her voice echo in the large, high-celing'd vestry).
So we didn't feel like going to the reception, which was scheduled from 2 PM to 5 PM, who-knows-where, and here we are at home now at 2 PM. Kind of doubt we'll have a big supper tonight, but it's there if we want some.
It was sad not to have Momo barking at us when we came home.
And that's the day, with 6 to 6 + 1/2 hours until Nannie's (for real) bedtime!

Hi Tweety
Stars hope all the wedding stuff goes well
Was a pretty good day at work yesterday, nothing unexpected. After work went to the pride party at the minister's house, thankfully the weather wasn't too warm as we were mostly outside. Decent crowd, about 20 people or so
Today going to try and get in some bird watching before it gets too hot. Will have lunch with dad as usual. Tonight hosting a dinner for the over 50 group at The Cheesecake Factory, looks like currently we have 10 people attending
Svengoolie has Village of the Damned which I've seen before
Will be unusually hot today, think it will get up to 97
