Good morning!
Joe, I'm glad it didn't rain on you. Hope you have a good weekend.
Hi Tinker!
Dianah, I thought you were talking about a type of food but it looks like a Taiwanese restaurant chain that we don't have here. I imagine California has better Asian food than us here in Florida. Although we have good Thai and Vietnamese. Sounds great. I have a co-worker that travels to various concert events and festivals this type of year.
So my garage door broke. But with much strength was able to get my car out. Fortunately even though it was about 5:30 I was able to get a guy from a company that worked evening shift and he was there by 7:00 and fixed it to the tune of $1,800. The last year has been very expensive but I had an overtime day on this paycheck and some emergency fund that is dwindling fast. Especially after buying a new refrigerator. I should be grateful that I'm not in debt and have a good FICO score.
I should be thankful I'm not as sick as a lot of people are suffering with cancer and other illnesses. A friend texted me that his husband probably only has a few weeks left to live and is on hospice. I don't know them well enough to get involved but it's sad. He's 30 younger than his husband and his husband will set him up financially well and thankfully it's a legal marriage thanks to the Supreme Court and no family can swoop in and take his assets. This happened to a friend of mine pre-gay marriage law, but I digress.
I took the first of the three antibiotics and hope it works as I'm tired of this. I'm manifesting that it's going to work and going about my life as if I'm not that sick (even though I think the medicine is upsetting my stomach) and will stay close to a bathroom.
I finished up my online book club book "Florenza" and enjoyed it. It's a historical novel set in Leonardo Di Vinci's time in Italy. It's set in Florence but "Florenza" is an insult apparently they used to call someone a sodomite. I read a lot the last couple of days being off work and haven't got next month's selection yet. I still miss in life book clubs but don't know of one that features queer books that focus on the gay male experience like this one does.
I laid the book on my bed and twice found Waffles chewing it up and it's all mangled but doesn't look bad with the cover over it. Ugh.....she's not a big chewer thank goodness. Not sure what about a hardback book intrigued her.
Woke up at about 10:30, with Tinker tromping all over me. She was polite enough to wait while I went to the bathroom and got dressed. When I picked up her harness she tried to push her head through it, then I grabbed the leash and we went out the front door into REALLY BRIGHT sunshine. It is 89 degrees and going to climb to 99 with a feels like of 107 degrees, 75% humidity and all of a whopping chance of rain at 1 %. I am NOT a fan of Summer weather.
My legs are having a time trying to trail quickly after Tinker, because they aren't quite awake . There is no other reason I would EVER go out this early, or in this heat, if it wasn't for the dog. But, I guess this 'habit' is going to be good for me. I mean, when we first moved here, it was the stairs that were a challenge but I got used to it, and it doesn't bother me anymore to go up and down, etc.etc,etc. ad infinitum. But I am so thankful Tinker can hold things until she gets outside! We do the periphery of the yard almost every time we go out. I'd like to know what distance we travel each time. It's a large front and back yard, but I am lousy at judging spaces or distances. It certainly isn't a matter of walking even a mile, but I still wonder. It takes about 20-25 minutes before we head back inside, stopping to sniff whatever catches her attention. She found a cooked, chewed-on chicken-leg bone, but I took it away from her and flung it way into the woods. Don't know how it landed in my back yard! Some trash-eating animal stole it from somewhere, but not from my trash!
Tinker has had her breakfast, I have had my meds and am drinking my coffee while lounging against a pile of pillows on the bed. I could probably easily go back to sleep, if I let myself, but I am going to try to stay awake. But Tinker is now curled up into a soundly-sleeping ball of dog.
I saw another notice about her and 5 other lost chihuahua-type dogs in the areas of the Neighborhood on-line site. I SURE PRAY NO ONE CLAIMS HER! One said their dog answered to the name LULA, and fortunately Tinker didn't even twitch an ear when I said it!
I could probably use this time to do things like put away clean clothes and tidy up, but I seriously doubt I am up to that energy level yet. I'm going to peruse the news-links and get disgusted....THAT will wake me up further! You betcha!
I'm putting off the getting-Nannie-up routine for another hour or so. And as tradition requires this comment, I will say: It is 10 hours until it is time to tuck Nannie into bed for the night! Hallelujah!
I don't HAVE TO go to the store for anything, but there is one refill at the pharmacy, and I would LIKE to go get a variety of more ginger candy from the HFS, but that is a longish drive. Also, the crispy taquitos I like are only sold at Harris-Tee-Hee store, as is the Garlic-butter Chicken Scampi I discovered 2 weeks ago. But goodness knows we have PLENTY of foods to eat for supper since I did a major shopping yesterday, so there is no sense in trying to cram more things into the freezer right now.
You know, after about 25+ years of making from-scratch, farm-hand type meals (meat, some kind of starch, 2 different vegetables and rolls or biscuits, and often....gravy!) for hubby, with all the attendant washing of pots and pans, etc.....I do not feel in the least bad about zapping meals in the microwave for Nannie, (regardless of salt and cholesterol levels!).....it's whatever she will eat. I do add a small salad or chunks of melons or something fresh and healthy to her meals, but at 'going-on-96-years-old' I don't see how the most healthy or unhealthy foods can make a huge difference in her life-span. I mean, we are not going for a world-record in the age department here! And aside from her mind, she is too darn healthy, physically anyway.
So, on to the news. As I went past the news-feed I saw the first 4 stories were about Humpty-Trumpty. Whot a thrill!
I hope you get to keep Tinker. She's found a good spot to be.
My sister takes the same approach with my parents in that this point getting them to eat anything is good. Doesn't have to be healthy. Mom holds on to fluid so the only thing she tries to conscious about is salt. Lower salt keeps her from swelling up, and getting short of breath so it's more of a quality of life thing than a longevity one. When I'm there we order out almost every meal.
Fingers crossed I'm on the mend GI wise but I think maybe having some nausea as a side effect of the antibiotic. But if it fixes the problem then I can deal with that.
I made myself have a lunch while I was out shopping and stopped at the popular Filipino chain "Jollibees" and it was mobbed. Every Filipino in town much have been there. I wound up stopping at a WaWa's and getting a hot sandwich. It was good enough.

Tweety hope the antibiotics do the trick
Stars sounds like a good name
Dianah that sounds like a nice day
Work was good yesterday, quiet and nothing unexpected. Was able to leave as soon as work was done for the train. No issues with parking or getting downtown, although the train was a bit late. Fairly long walk from the station to the concert site
Was a bit delayed by the lines at security for the concert, but when I got there it was fine. Met my friend B and his friend E, we brought wine and snacks. Thankfully it didn't rain
When I got to the station, I found out my train had been delayed due to some electric lines on the track, and that it would be skipping some stops, including mine. Given that it would be a fairly long walk from one of the other stations I got a cab home instead
Today will have lunch with dad, might do some cooking as well. Rain will likely prevent any bird watching today. Then hosting a dinner with the over 50 group. Only 3 of us this time, last time we were at this restaurant we had 10
Svengoolie has Earth Girls are Easy which I'm going to skip
Will be cooler today, low 80s
