SMH makes you sign a 2 year contract and you must pay $5,000 to break it if you want to quit. It's possible to drop to part-time without penalty if you manager approves it. Residency program itself lasts one year, but it's not very good. Most people don't attend the classes. There is no application window, every newly hired nurse is in the residency program. Avoid the ED, they hire new grads, but they're horrible to work for. Pay starts at $25.50 for night shift BSN (that includes diff), and you will work night shift for at least 6 months, if not a year.
Dr's Hospital? I don't think they hire new grads. Lakewood Ranch is snooty about hiring, too.

Hi all,
I will be graduating with a BSN next Spring, and will be leaving FSU to go back home to Sarasota.
I was hoping to get some up-to-date information about the SMH Nurse Residency Program if anyone has done it.
Is it one year? About how much does it pay? Do you have to sign a two year contract after? And when does the application window open?
Also, if anyone has worked at Doctor's Hospital... what is their average pay for new grads and do you have to sign a two year?
Thanks!
