Santa Barbara City College ADN Fall 2016

Published

Hello Everyone,

I just got notified as an alternate for the ADN program (advance placement LVN-RN)* for Fall 2016 I wanted to start a forum see who has gotten accepted to the program :) Also state whether for ADN program or Advance Placement (LVN-RN) Hope To hear from you Future Nurses! :)

Hi! My name is Anna :) I just got the email that I was accepted into the ADN Program at SBCC!

Hi Anna! That is great Congratulations!! :) I saw the ADN Distribution point list and saw the competition! Wow!! :)

I'm so excited!! I've been waiting for this for so so long! I really hope you get in :)!

Yes, I hope so too I missed it by one point to get in :( So I'm assuming I'm first on the list and only 10 LVN's were accepted. Did the acceptance letter entail when you need to let them know if you accept or decline the spot in the program?

Just one point? Oh my gosh! I wanted to go to a school near where I live in the OC and I was only two points away so I know exactly how you feel. How were you able to see the point distribution for people that got in?? If you're first on the list I'm pretty sure you will get in! Yes it did, it told me that I needed to submit it by 4:30 pm on Friday, May 20.

Yes Just one point!! :( Oh I'm from the inland empire but live in Pasadena now:) kind of nervous if I get in about where I would live. Yeah, in the email there is an attachment shows all the ADN and LVN's who applied and how the score was broken down. If you want to see it I can Email it to you :)

Can you?! I'd love to see it. I didn't get that in my email. Oh me too, I've honestly been searching apartments all day. SO expensive compared to where we live. My email is [email protected]

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Moved to schools/programs

Just popping in to say congratulations to you both! I also wanted to add that you might want to consider extending your housing search slightly north of SB, to Goleta. It is much more affordable than SB and not very far away. It's still a nice area, though. Good luck to you both! :)

Hi Thanks so much for that helpful suggestion and yes I have been looking in those areas as well :) Are you in the nursing program as well?

Hi, you're welcome. I was actually considering the nursing program at SBBC, but since I am about 90 miles north of SB, I decided that, while a the two-year commute didn't sound so bad on paper, in reality, it would become difficult. I do have a few friends who are SBCC nursing student hopefuls.

At any rate, I'm doing the CNA-->LVN-->RN (AD) at Allan Hancock College. After that I plan to get my BSN at a local University. I just applied to the LVN program, which has a long waiting list, but once we complete that successfully, we go straight the RN program with no further wait. I will learn my wait list number in mid-July. Meanwhile, I just have one more pre-requisite to complete for the RN program -- Micro. I'm just now starting to get excited. :D

I hope you find an affordable place to live and get good news from the college very soon! :)
