Thanks! As far as getting in,
They have a point system: (your GPA) max points possible: 4
.5 for completing Microbiology(on 1st try
.5 for completing A&P 1 (on 1st try)
2.0 for completing all pre-reqs (Ethics, Chem, etc)
The biggest factors are your GPA, and completing everything before you apply. As soon as the new nursing building opens up, they say they'll admit twice as many students. (if they have the instructors for it) So if you apply then, you're odds automatically improve. Have you completed all the pre reqs?
Congrats on being accepted. I graduated August of 07. If I remember correctly, the 1st semester the secretary registers you for you classes and then the 2nd and 3rd semester you have to register yourself. Also I think we started clinicals within a couple of weeks. I really don't miss those whites at all! Good luck.
Congrats! Yes, the admissions office will sign you up. Be flexible. The classes will be "as Available". Check your accd.edu website for SAC- "Log in to student services" Go to Detailed Student schedule. This will show your schedule when it's put in. Notoriously at the last minute. You can buy a white uniform and lab coat now if you want to be excited and ready. You can buy patches to sew on at the bookstore. You can go to the bookstore of your choice (L&M or SAC) and examine the Kozier (author) "Fundamentals of Nursing"- which will be your first bible. Be sure to get the recommended edition. You can go to San Antonio College website and go to Directories, then go to the Nursing Dept and find the Syllabi and get more excited. OR, you can just enjoy your final peaceful summer and sleep because you'll need it. Simplify your life now!! Don'y worry-your teachers know more than you. All you have to do is show up and do what they say: read, listen, practice! Remember to swing by the Nursing building and read the bulletin board by the elevator to see when "Orientation" is- (before classes start)-and go without fail. Also go upstairs and find the bulletin board for your class and look for the syllabus that will be hanging there. Make a copy down in the lobby AND RETURN IT TO THE BAORD for your fellow students. And remember- you are not competing now-help each other. How's that for TMI!
I wanted to quote a line of your message, as I've seen in other posts goodneighbor, but couldn't dang figure it out! Thanks for your message, I will get my white uniform and be excited till the semester starts. They already posted my schedule and I can't wait to get started! And That wasn't too much info, I can't get enough actually. Esp. since the nursing admin never answers her phone!!
Thanks again...
Hi guys,
I'm currently getting my pre-req's for the 09 LVN to RN Fall class. The point system has always confused me. I've attempted A&P I twice a few years ago, but dropped it with a "W". Since I didn't get an actual grade for it, does that knock a .5 point off your point system?
Also, what was your over GPA. Mine right now is a 3.8. I'm hoping that is good enough.
Hey there!
I talked to Amy White just this morning. She said the "W's" don't count-- so I'm good. I also talked to St. Philips ADN program-- they're starting up again this semester. So, they might be a possibility as well.
Did you know UTHSC-SA is stopping the LVN to BSN program at the end of Spring 2009? Ouch!
Dave
Hey-- I know this is a delayed response to this forum, but I thought you all would have the best answer for me. I just got into the nursing program myself, I start Spring 09 and I am needing to get the Kozier book. I want to order it online, but the people on amazon have a lot of comments saying that the nursing books online don't give the "My Nursing Lab" access code. Does Mt. Sac use this? Should i buy this book from Mt. Sac. Or will I be safe without the code?
Thanks...

Hey guys, I got into the SAC nursing program for the fall '08 semester. For people who already went through this, does the admissions secretary register classes for students? When do I have to buy a uniform, and what should I get? I have trouble contacting the office, so any info on what to expect would be great.
thanks again.
